A strip of beach in the foreground, then an expanse of brown mud interrupted only by the other side of the bay off in the distance.

Horton Landing, Nova Scotia

Have a lovely, calm, Monday, (if possible) friends.

A flat, peaceful looking coastline, with striations of clouds in the sky above. There are brown low spits of land jutting into the water, the distant ones with evergreen trees that look small in the distance. There is either a darker cloud on the horizon or a distant shoreline, it's not possible to tell which.

Fog Clinging to Blomidon Viewed From Medford cliffs
It's an extraordinary effect that fog pouring over the edge of the cliff into the water.
Happy Wednesday, friends

The bottom half of the frame has a predominately reddish tone with sand and pools of water from a receding tide. This is low tide in the place of the highest tides in the world, so this is actually the bay floor. At bottom left quarter is a single person, so far away it's very tiny, possibly digging for lugworms or some other fishing bait. There is a rock formation in the bottom right quarter, which would be mostly underwater at high tide. The upper part of the picture has a raised land mass on the left side, with a thick layer of fog that appears to be pouring over its edge into the water we see in the distance. Beyond that water is a low shoreline. The sky is very heavy with dark grey and blueish clouds broken with a pale sky near the horizon.

Sunset Over the Dykes with Grasses

Midwinter sunsets over the dykes are very beautiful with that light. It's usually extremely cold and challenging to make a photograph.

A winter scene of sunset light. The foreground is fringed with grasses that are illuminated by the last of the day's golden rays, striped by a shadow in a line through them all. The snowy field behind them is in shadow also, with a slightly curved bank that divides the frame. Behind is water or ice lit by that same golden light, and broken by some other brown banks that intersect the waterways. In the distance are some trees and the sky is heavy to the right as it reaches the horizon.

A very dark shore, small stones, curves from the bottom as it meets the calm water. The tide is out and there is a small rock island with a single small group of evergreens on the right side. There are other rock formations out into the water from a dark shore with trees at the top of the low cliff. The sunset is a muted pink and darker blue in a very blue sky and in the distance across the bay, it's either misty or low hills, which is hard to make out.

A sunset scene looking from the water's edge up an expanse of dark red undulating sand with ripples and rivulets coming down from the shore. The sunset is reflected in the surface water and almost mirrors the sky. The dark skyline is low cliffs with trees at the top. The sky, between the wisps of cloud is blue.

Looking across a bay at sunset, with dark water in the foreground and an orange and gold sunset with dark wispy clouds above and a few dark streaks of clouds on the horizon. There are low hills on the far shore of the bay. A lone fishing boat with a light is just about in the centre of the image, where the water meets the opposite shore.

Sunset February 2012 - Kingsport, Nova Scotia
The tides and cold make such interesting ice formations on the flats at Kingsport, Nova Scotia. It looks like it would be pieces of water icing lying broken on the surface.
The other day this landscape looked just like this.
Happy Throwback Thursday.
#ThrowbackThursday #LandscapePhotography #NovaScotia #tidal #elliekposts #Landscape #BayOfFundy
A low undulating landscape of tidal flats in winter, with flat pieces of broken ice scattered on the surface on top of reddish brown earth. It is almost sunset and there is a warm glow on the scene. A small rivulet goes out from the right foreground and winds its way towards the bay we can just make out in the distance. There are low hills across the bay. The sky is clear and blue.
A minimalist shot from a trip to the east coast of Canada last year. I got up early one morning and fog shrouded most of the Bay of Fundy. It's a calm scene, yet still unsettling in a way.
