On Sunday, Taiwan Lantern Festival ended, marking the end of Lunar New Year. It was a very fascinating, playful event around Taipei's east center, bringing a bit of wonder and magic into daily life.
I really liked the festival. It combined bottom-up artistic work, pop-up events, and the kind of top-down big events Taipei knows how to pull of.
One of the main areas was across Taipei City Hall, where also these two picture were taken. Many of the lanterns displayed playful scenes, often from popular folk tales or famous children books (The little prince, Alice in Wonderland, ...).
These are definitely not my strongest pictures, but I really enjoyed the funny figures in the boat. I like how the general idea of the light river comes across on the images, but the background is still quite chaotic. (I tried to locate the image by positioning Taipei 101 in the background, but it doesn't work from either in terms of focus nor light. In the image from the back, I wish I had stepped a bit to the right in order to get a small separation between both figures.) Still! It was a fun evening where mostly wanted to spend the magic of the moment with my friends, so I'm happy with the results.
I published many of my photos on my photo blog, please head over if you are interested!
