One of the greatest early collector of #Indian #Art, Polier began his career in #India as a Surveyor in the #EastIndiaCompany in 1758 before becoming the Chief Engineer of the #BengalArmy at #Calcutta #Bengal and finally, Chief Architect for the #Awadh Kingdom at Lucknow where an album of Indian #Paintings known as the Polier Album was assembled.
