Seit den 1960er-Jahren waren koreanische #Krankenschwestern und #Bergleute gezielt für #Deutschland angeworben worden, da in beiden Berufssparten #Arbeitskräftemangel herrschte. Als die #Wirtschaftskrise Mitte der 1970er einsetzte, sollten die #Koreanerinnen und #Koreaner Deutschland wieder verlassen. Viele koreanische Krankenschwestern wehrten sich erfolgreich und bestanden darauf, nicht auf bloße Arbeitskraft reduziert und als Ware behandelt zu werden. Sie wollten selbst über ihr Schicksal bestimmen. Die Frauen, die im Buch zu Wort kommen, haben sich in dieser Zeit des Widerstands formiert und die Koreanische #Frauengruppe in Deutschland gegründet.

Die Texte der Frauen spiegeln wider, was sie bewegte und noch bewegt. Sie erzählen von #Ausgrenzung und #Rassismus, kultureller #Differenz, dem Verlassen der #Heimat und dem Ankommen in einer fremden Welt, von Freundschaft, Familie und Beruf. Sie handeln von den Selbstfindungsprozessen als #Migrantin, dem Kampf um Rechte und der eigenen #Politisierung in Deutschland.

Das Buch steht so für die Selbstbehauptung der Koreanerinnen in der deutschen Gesellschaft. Selbstbewusst wird ihre Migrationsgeschichte von ihnen selbst erobert, neu definiert und verändert.
