@nicorikken Did you try #Betterbird yet? This is a fork with many improvements.

Last december I quitted my account at Revolut, because I can do everything they do with the account I have with my other bank (for years). There was no reason to keep it, so off it went.
Today I was reading a message on the #Betterbird weblog and I am more than glad that I did what I did.

Совсем недавно я вспоминал про TheBat! — легендарный почтовый клиент, который прошел долгий путь и продолжает радовать своих пользователей. Но время не стоит на месте, и появилось немало интересных программ и сервисов, о которых знают не все. В этой статье я посмотрю на каждый из упомянутых в комментариях почтовиков и попробую понять, можно ли их сравнить с «земышью». Was ich vergessen hatte: Ich bin #neuhier und gehöre der (weiblichen) Minderheit der #ü60 hier an. Aber ich nutze #vivaldi #posteo #betterbird #signal und ein NAS. LEIDER noch nicht Linux, da habe ich mich noch nicht ran getraut.

Just tried out the build-in email client in #Vivaldi another shot. Works great, unless you:

* Want to connect to your Proton account with the client: can't change the incoming server to the correct security setting to use the Proton Bridge program

* Want to use the setup to connect to an old Hotmail account: just hangs when you try to connect the OAuth for the acocunt

* Try to use the automatic Import settings: it doesn't also pull the passwords and sets all of your accounts to Offline, for some weird reason

Praying that #Thunderbird isn't forced to add #AI into the base browser by #Mozilla.

When I tried #Betterbird, I had an entirely different set of issues.

Why is it so hard to find a decent email client? Webmail is NOT an option I want to have to pursue. I have too many accounts for that.

How do people feel about #Betterbird?

Also, what about the classics #KMail and Evolution? Anybody using those these days? Does either of them work with Gmail?

I guess webmail has somewhat spoiled interest in proper email clients, unfortunately.

Also related to the declining development of email clients, I believe it is this current obsession with synchronous communication that BTW is a menace to mental health.

I once heard a colleague in the university's IT department telling another that he thinks people who use anything other than :google: Gmail in a browser are dumb. I think the opposite!

For a long time, I've been using :thunderbird: — a slightly better fork lately, :betterbird: — due to the lack of a proper replacement. What I would miss most is its unified inbox, and its calendar integration, which works despite being somewhat clumsy.

Laatste dag van het jaar is een mooie om weer een stap te zetten in het gebruik van minder #BigTech.

Mijn Google Agenda wordt vervangen door een persoonlijke agenda op eigen account en de zakelijke gaat via #Synology Calendar draaien op mijn NAS. Beiden via #CalDAV

Beiden worden via DAVx5 beschikbaar gemaakt op mijn Android smartphone (ja dat nog wel).

Synchronisatie verloopt goed met m'n desktop en laptop in #Betterbird.

Volgende stappen zijn taken en contactpersonen.

I want to like #betterbird but it is so bad :( getting 20 attachments from 20 different emails takes a lot of time because of broken features, still less shit than #protonmail web interface :D would probably take me 3 days in there
