On my way home from the #BudgetTO town hall, I checked out the new Esplanade #BikeTO lanes from Market to Scott. While it's great people are using them already, the pavement quality is poor and there is a potential conflict area just east of Scott which needs some sorting out to do. #TOpoli

I chased down a Toronto Beck taxi that blew threw a crosswalk. He was the second car to do it, when a pedestrian was already crossing. His passenger chirped in to defend the driver claiming there was a big blind spot.
My dude. You're sitting in the back seat of a sedan. I don't expect you to read the road. The professional driver though?
There was not only a pedestrian halfway across the street, she was walking her big purple bicycle, was accompanied by a crossing guard wearing a high viz vest and holding a giant stop sign, and yellow lights were blinking.
If you can't see any of those things get off the damn road.

One of the few things Toronto got right is Bike Share Toronto. It has grown from 80 stations in 2011 to almost 1000, while this July, August, and September each saw more than one million rides! Now if only infrastructure could keep up ... #BikeTO #TOpoli #VisionZero www.thestar.com/news/gta/how...

@CyclingGuide And for folks who haven’t yet seen it, I *highly* recommend reading the ruling from Justice Paul Schabas. It’s a scathing assessment of the government’s legislation, and certainly the funniest legal document you’ll read today. In addition to the dry humour, it's filled with insightful, thoughtful analysis, and is an accessible and uplifting read.
@CyclingGuide There was an indoor reception that included approrpiate remarks from multiple politicians. And there were awards given out by Vélo Canada Bikes to various advocates and organizations. My favourite was the “2025 National Cycling Advocate of the Year” award. That award went to Cycle Toronto, who earlier this year won an historic legal victory over the Ontario government and its profoundly stupid, and unconstitutional, attempt to remove cycle lanes in downtown Toronto.
