It's hard to be cautious enough with shell scripting: I got tricked by wildcard expansions in unexpected places.

The problematic code: listing files and putting them in an array like so:

files=($(find ...))

But one file contained a literal '*' in its name (actually an error, well from some other shell script I guess).
As a result of this wildcard, the file list is wrong...

This particular problem can be fixed by using `mapfile` to assign to an array though.

Hey #rstats and #bioinformatics, do you have a good paper explaining why you should not draw conclusions from the fact that there is a significant change in one group but not in the other? I know three (including one of my own, see comments), but *apparently* that is still not enough :-(
