It’s Matariki in Aotearoa (New Zealand) today - a public holiday to celebrate the rising of the Pleiades/Seven Sisters star cluster that coincides with the winter solstice and its significance to Māori. A photography trick I learned a while ago is every time I think it’s time to go, I tell myself to give it another ten minutes. I keep repeating this every time I think about leaving until I lose the light, my subject buggers off or I really have to go. I took this shot after the 4th “time to go” this morning.
