Au centre de la photo, une huppe fasciée (oiseau un peu plus grand qu'un pigeon aux ailes zébrées noir et blanc, au reste du plumage roux, au long bec courbé et portant une crète tachetée sur la tête) de trois-quarts dos, tournant la tête vers la gauche de l'image. Elle est posée sur du gazon un peu sec et parsemé de trèfles. On voit que la photo a été prise à travers du feuillage qui parait très flou au premier plan. la luminosité est plutôt terne.

Gros plan sur un cisticole des joncs (petit oiseau au ventre beige et au dos brunatre) perché en haut d’un fin roseau dont la cime se termine par deux feuilles sèches. Le roseau fait presque une diagonale barrant la photo en deux, et l’oiseau occupe la moitié en en haut à droite de l’image. L’oiseau est de trois-quarts face et tourne la tête vers la gauche. On voit bien son oeil gauche et la forme un peu incurvée de son bec. Le ciel est bleu-gris uni dans le fond. La lumière dorée de fin d’après midi éclaire l’oiseau sur sa gauche.
