The black-and-white photograph shows a calm, expansive seascape. In the foreground, large, rugged volcanic rocks dominate the scene, some partially submerged in shallow, gently rippling water. The rocks are dark, rough-textured, and irregularly shaped, and scattered across the lower third of the image.Beyond the rocks, the ocean stretches out toward the horizon, its surface smooth and reflective with only subtle waves. Small clusters of rocks and low reef-like formations break the water’s surface here and there, creating a dotted pattern that leads the eye into the distance.The horizon line is low and perfectly straight, with a faint, distant shoreline barely visible under a vast, open sky. The sky takes up more than half the image and is filled with soft, wispy clouds. The overall mood is serene, quiet, and slightly moody due to the monochrome tones, and evokes a sense of peaceful isolation at the edge of the sea.

Larch and conifer trees line a rocky mountainside, dividing the photo in half diagonally. The slope of the mountain in the foreground is light-coloured glacial rock deposit. The mountain slope in the background is also mostly glacial rock, but is in shadow, and yields a nice contrast to the foreground. The larch trees pop out from the conifers they stand alongside in the middle, as they are lighter-coloured and also lit by the sun.
