It's been a very good week or so in Inspiration Corner, mostly thanks to fantasy legend John Blanche's Voodoo Forest and Scions of Voodoo. An absolute lesson in dark, strange, beautiful world-building, I'm having a great time working through them both.

3 beastmen miniatures: there's a wolfman with a shotgun, a goatman with 2 axes, and another goatman wearing a mask and a makeshift weapon to smash heads in with (made with a stick and a broken cog). They're painted in tans and browns and generally have a post-apocalyptic wasteland look.

The backs of the figures, two of them have backpacks.

Continuing to plug away at the tester model this evening. I am really enjoying painting in this style… unlocking a dangerous door in my mind…

In doing some research on #blanchitsu for #fedipaint I rediscovered all the art that ignited ~~the flames of eternal war~~ my imagination as a child. I found some inspiration and started on a conversion project I've been planning for a bit. Hoping to build a full 5-strong Dark Commune - beastman style! Here's my mocked up Iconarch based on January's mini of the month and a standard from a fantasy kit. Still no idea how to paint in the style... #WarhammerCommunity #warhammer40k

Not sure if I'm going to do this month's #blanchitsu #fedipaint (though I can think of some models that would work for it). I eschew grimdark, so while I COULD do the palette and roughness, it wouldn't be for making it look grimy. Like can it still be blanchitsu if it's not grimdark?

(IIRC there's a few real-deal Blanche pieces in the display case at the local game store.)

About one year ago I touched up with wonderful sculptor and mini converter Luke Mockeridge and we agreed on an art swap, so here is in all its mechanical glory a servitor sculpted by him and painted by me.

Working on conversions and sculpts by Luke Mockeridge is a pleasure I'd recommend to everyone. All his pieces are incredibly detailed and full of character, I love them.
