Rarely does such a powerful, blockbuster winter storm nearly sneak up on the most populous urban corridor in the US. But that’s what happened this weekend.
As of Friday, forecast models still disagreed on whether the Northeast blizzard would be a blockbuster for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. It's finally clear outside, although still very windy. Some power outages across town. We got about 13" of snow. No school tomorrow. Will hibernate another day.
Many schools in the greater Boston area will be closed again tomorrow because crews will still be clearing snow from streets, sidewalks, and parking lots throughout the day.
Our son's school will be closed but he has to go to school anyway because the spring musical is in a week and a half and they already missed the all day rehearsal that was supposed to happen today and they can't afford to miss a second day of rehearsal this close to the play.

When I went out to shovel the third time I discovered that the owner of the car in front of ours had cleaned the snow off her car and piled it all in the middle of the street. I pointed out to her that when the plow came by it was going to plow all that snow up against the cars on the other side of the street and then they were going to have to move it all again. I left it to her to draw the obvious conclusion that this was a dick move.

When I shovel out a car on the street, I really shovel out the car and the space. And every bit of snow I move gives into somebody's yard, none of it goes into a pile on the street or sidewalk or blocking other cars. Because I'm not an asshole.
I had to actually move the car out of the space to dig out the space and then put the car back.
This is why I feel zero guilt about using a space-saver for a couple days after the storm.
