Obviously #JS, alongside #Cookies and #Tracking, are mere tools of #Enshittification but that certainly is as much warranted as the shitstain #Blockchain and #NFTs got due to #CryptoBros using #Shitcoins to #PumpAndDump-#scam #TechIlliterates and #FinanceIlliterates that are "#HornyForMoney!"

I saw an interesting article yesterday that said #Microsoft was finally admitting that some program of theirs was so bloated and #slow to start that it was harming the user experience, so they were considering pre-loading it at boot (or #login) time so #users wouldn't see the huge delay when they went to open it.
(Of course, that would slow down booting or login...)
But that program is ... Windows File Explorer.
So let me get this straight - a glorified file picker and directory navigator is so #bloated and slow it can't start up instantly? And thousands of engineers can't figure out how to make it fast or efficient?
Maybe they should ask #CoPilot to speed it up.

My last line was NOT meant to be a #dig at #ChinaMiéville. It's meant to be a dig at how #BLOATED #fantasy and #sciencefiction became since the 1990s.
As a young adult, I got burned out by #RobertJordan's #WheelofTime, THEN made the mistake of starting #GeorgeMartin's #Asoiaf (a mistake I corrected by putting "A Clash of Kings" down halfway through).
In the 1970s, #MichaelMoorcock proved you could write epics in less than 200 pages. A lesson I wish wasn't lost.

I think all of us know the problem of the Web. I was wondering if it could be fixed by eliminating JS and using WASM for the same purpose(currently WASM needs some JS glue) By doing so we get rid of a big part which is the JS engine. And we also get rid of JS itself :)
Then creating a web engine would be easier and requiring less effort. If people need an easy to use scripting language, they could do #Lua.
