#BlueCrossBlueShield #insurance in #Vermont might go under without help from the state. "If it fails, the state’s entire health care apparatus could fall apart, officials say."

Maybe we should rethink the health care apparatus instead of giving the parasite more blood, eh?

LOL. sent an opinion survey to me. I responded just how you'd expect. I hope they have the required lead-and-asbestos safety bunny-suit handy, they will need it. I didn't outright threaten them, but I did declare that they were the villain in our healthcare story. Part of the Great Adversary, and if they were on fire, and I had a glass of water, I'd drink it. No, no threats, but I wish them glorious suffering.

An interesting visualization of the largest health plans in each state. For context: Elevance, HCSC, and Highmark are all #BlueCrossBlueShield plans. #BCBS #HealthInsurance #MarketConcentration #monopolies #DataVisualization buff.ly/4gJfSl6

EDIT: This toot was premature Briana is STILL facing the mass shooting charge and is under house arrest. More info in toot 4 below

There's been a positive update in this story of the Florida mom, Briana Boston, who was arrested for mouthing off during a phone call with her health insurance provider. She was released sometime yesterday and charges appear to have been dropped.

Here's the story from when she was initially arrested.

I've spent nearly 48 hours wondering about the UHC CEO attack and hearing all of the vitriol directed his way. And now I am hearing that Blue Cross Blue Shield has repealed its decision to charge patients extra for anaesthesia if their surgery takes too long, as if the attack had an effect.

But, yet, the political right somehow lands the message in the United States that the left wants to "take away your private healthcare." They. Land. That. Message. All. Of. The. Time.

How?

It is obvious now that USian healthcare firms and the rent-seekers who get rich off them are among the most reviled people in the country. How does this message keep landing? It is quite obvious that next to nobody likes their private insurance.

"The bottom line: The fact that public scorn toward insurance executives could turn into violence is a startling reflection of how social media outrage can translate into real-world consequences. 'I would never have thought at that time that I needed security,' Udow-Phillips said of her time at BlueCross. 'Does this give permission to other people? It's terrifying.'"

Looks like BCBS got a bit scared after yesterday’s news and decided to retract its policy change on anesthesia.

Good.

I know BCBS has differences between states, but the timing of this email that came in last night, given yesterday’s news from states other than mine certainly strikes the tone deaf chord.

An email from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois promoting stress management tools for a happier holiday season. It features a woman holding a cup, dressed warmly, with a blurred background of festive lights.

Just a reminder that they were seriously firing ppl - hindering their ability to feed themselves and their families - for not participating in what's looking more and more like a ⋔e⫐ical exþeri⋔ent as time goes by. 😬🤷🏿‍♀️

Y’all, I have seen some stupid waste in my life. But this latest arrival from #bluecrossblueshield has got to be among the top 10. It is a combination lock theoretically designed to lock controlled substances like my 5mg hydrocodone. Now, there are few problems with this idea:
1. Pill bottles are plastic and easily broken.
2. I have a prescription because I have rheumatoid arthritis, and so sometimes my hands don’t work.
3. What an absolutely bugfuck insane idea this is.
4. What an insane waste of plastic and landfills. (I’ll find something to make with it, I’m sure, but still…).
5. What a boondoggle waste of premiums this is.

Plastic combination locks meant to secure prescription bottles by locking the cap so it can’t be opened. Because nobody would ever just step on the bottle to break it.

Finding out prescription costs are no longer being covered by health insurance in #BlueCrossBlueShield
This is unacceptable since so many meds cost over $3000/month.
Talking to my HR now.

We just got a letter saying Blue Cross Blue Shield is going to stop including prescription costs in our medical deductible. One drug my husband takes costs $3000 per dose. The insurance doesn't want to cover it anymore. Our deductible is $3500
Do you think we can possibly revolt against the insurance companies rather than the government?!?
