I think #DVD capable players, including #BlueRay players, would be mandated to transcode CC (Line 21 Closed Captions) into #HDMI compatible #Subtitle data. It's ridiculous that you can't get the CC data unless unless you use component video instead of HDMI.

I'm moderately annoyed by the absence (to my knowledge) of a one-click (or one-cli-command) #FLOSS solution to repackage video DVDs to MKV (#Matrioska video), chapters and all. There's apparently #MakeMKV that would provide the service, but it's not (fully) FLOSS.

@LukasHvG Es gibt da auch immer noch #Videobuster.de, wo man (neben einem kleinen Streamingangebot) auch ca. 40000 Filme auf #Blueray per Postversand leihen kann.

Ich habe gerade 8 Filme auf #Blueray #gebraucht gekauft für zusammen 32 Euro.
Bei #Amazon #PrimeVideo hätte ich die dafür nicht Mal "leihen" können!

Bezahlt habe ich auch nicht mit #paypal !

Fühlt sich gut an dieses #unplugtrump
Einziger Nachteil: ich muss warten bis die Filme da sind😅

Ende für viele beschreibbare digitale Medien: Sony gibt bald die Produktion zahlreicher Formate auf, die manche Profis noch nutzen.
Im Februar 2025 kommt das Aus für drei Formate, die Sony maßgeblich mitentwickelt hat. Das Unternehmen stellt dann die Produktion von beschreibbaren Blu-ray-Discs, MiniDiscs und MiniDV-Kassetten ein.
