Another #boardgaming convention weekend cut short by a snow/ice storm. Still managed to play two games of Trench Crusade, a game of War for New Eden, two of Castles of Burgundy (loved it, might buy it) and one of Red Rising (didn’t like that one).
I’d actually intended to paint these the same scheme as the smaller ones I finished a while back, but I accidentally inverted my color scheme. Happy accidents. 😅 The only challenging part was I had to switch up the color scheme on the base which took a little fiddling.

Unit cards! I wanted to design something that was highly visual with a really modern, graphic feel. This is where I ended up. All the info and damage recording you need for a unit on a double sided card. And yes, that's M1, as in Abrams and Locust, as in the Locust from #battletech (though the name will change). #RaidMetal really mixes things up machinery wise!

I've spent a lot, and I do mean a lot, of time working out how to play balance fighting vehicles from not only different periods but also different classification – a mechanic is needed when you can pit WWII & modern tanks aginst one another! Then there's this video of a 30 year old M2 Bradley taking on a T-90 (note: the claim what the Bradley was targeting is slightly off)

How to safely transport dozens of #miniatures? I glued 1-2 rare earth magnets in each of their bases and use this nice red metal toolbox.
As a bonus, I realized last night that, with a few more magnets to hold the tray to the box, it can act as a two-level display case.
After a bit more fooling, I decided to test the tilling of the grid. This is the same tile joined up 4x to create a nuts combat arena. One of the upsides of basing #RaidMetal on a 1/285 scale (6mm) is that the play area can be really compact - each if these tiles is less than A4 (8.5x11"), meaning you can have really close quarter arenas, or larger really wild set ups. They are also super easy to print.

One of the things I've been working on is a dynamic map board system for the #RaidMetal arenas that not only gives modifier info but is also 3D in appearance, for those that don't want to create terrain but want a very visual experience. The isographic grid idea stemmed from the style of #infographics I used in the rule book, and these will become available as arena map packs that can be mixed and matched
