This week's #JukeboxFridayNight theme is #CountryMusic. Here are a few random favorites from the late sixties and early seventies:

"Green, Green Grass of Home", written by #ClaudeCurlyPutmanJr, and first recorded by singer #JohnnyDarrell in 1965, is a country song made popular by #PorterWagoner the same year, when it reached No. 4 on the Country chart. It was also recorded by #BobbyBare and by #JerryLeeLewis, who included it in his album #CountrySongsForCityFolks (later re-issued as All Country). #TomJones learned the song from Lewis' version and, in 1966, he had a worldwide No. 1 hit with it.

BOBBY BARE
Tender Years
1965 U.S. pressing
Spending the night with one of the all time #country GOATS.
I was in the middle of re-arranging the country wing of my library, and realized it’s been a while since I’ve listened to Bobby.
So I pulled out two of my favorites, and I’m about to do them both back to back, starting with this one.
Only 8 songs are collected here, but they’re ALL slayers, including one of my favorite Bobby Bare tunes “Vampira”.

Evidently when "The All American Boy" was playing in 1958 and (mostly) 1959, I was listening the other way. I gave this a try at Bandcamp and bought it; but for some reason, evidently it is no longer available there. Too bad but we still have YouTube. This track is really quite good.
