Before I got my horns implanted, I did a lot of research. Nearly every person who posted about doing it said they were constantly asked questions about it as people noticed them and were curious. Like, it could be annoying how much people stopped to ask you. :neocat_surprised:
So I got my horns, same standard size as anyone else would start at, and... Crickets. I've had to point them out to people who end up surprised, like they didn't even notice. :neocat_confused:
I'm left with but two conclusions to come to:
People try to pay so little attention to disabled folks that they literally don't notice horns sticking out of my head.
People assume those horns are some sort of congenital defect because I'm disabled and think it's rude to bring up.
Neither of these make me feel all too great. :neocat_drowsy:
I popped in to my tattoo place today to chat with the new piercer there and ask her to look at my conch punch because I think it's growing some irritation bumps (I can't see it properly, even in a mirror).
It is—boooo!
She seems amazing though—yay!
We ended up having a long chat about the importance of building up alt community in regional areas, because of the high youth sui rates (especially Aboriginal kids!) and how we were both saved by finding community.
I'm going to book in the next week or so and get a couple more holes jabbed in my ear.. I was wanting to keep working on my ears, but with my regular piercer not really getting to Bathurst much anymore I was out of options.

Trying (yet again!) to explain to kinksters that you can't just boil something to sterilise it.
You need high temperature over time - so 121°C over more than 15 minutes, or 132°C over more than 4 minutes.
"cool I can just boil them for 15 minutes then"
That's not how any of this works.
