There's some catnip next to my chair on the rocks and the bees are still there sometimes when I'm sitting if it's not too late in the evening. I got a photo of bombus huntii but I saw bombus vagans too. Another masked hunter assassin bug was seen on the wall just a bit ago *points over there*. It was relocated to outdoors.

I spent some time observing the 'orange' bumblebees today. I didn't see any of the small ones that were not male bees so it's looking like a lot of the male Bombus huntii here are just really small.

Here's a medium to large sized huntii on a pink zinnia.

A bumblebee on a deep pink colored zinnia flower. The bee is black and yellow with an orange stripe on T2 and T3 with T1 and T4 being yellow. The wings are translucent black. The flower has several yellow florets which the bee is feeding on.

This is probably a Bombus huntii like this morning but it is half the size or smaller. 20mm vs 10mm. It is a male, skinny legs no pollen basket.

There's lots of these small orange ones around. I guess the size can be variable based on how much food the larvae get. The large ones could be well fed female workers that were out when the sun set I guess.

I noticed Bombus huntii snoozing on this hollyhock seed pod this morning. I moved a finger in to check for life and he kicked up a leg to wave me off.

A yellow and black bumblebee that has an orange stripe on it's abdomen clinging upside down to a hollyhock flower seed pod. The bee is very furry. The seed pod is dry and tan colored. The plant stalk is green.

Bumblebees on the catnip and the oregano. There were other small bees but they are camera shy.

A bumblebee with 2 orange segments on it's abdomen with yellow segments before and after. It has translucent black wings, a black bar between it's wings on the thorax, and yellow other places. It is furry too. It is on a catnip or cat mint cluster of blossoms that are a light lavender with purple spots on the petals.A small bumblebee on oregano flowers. It is in flight slightly above the flowers. It is black and yellow and furry. The flowers are light pink or lavender, a lower 3 lobe looking petal with a sort of covering petal on the top side.

The purple coneflowers have more bees on them lately. Maybe more nectar with the cooler weather which was below 86F or 30C for 3 out of the last 5 days. 108f/42C by Friday. 🌡️ ☀️

Bombus huntii on the Bergamot bee balm this morning.

A cropped closeup photo of a medium sized bumblebee on a pink flower. The bee is black and yellow, with translucent black wings and had a very prominent orange stripe on two segments of it's abdomen with a leading and trailing yellow stripe. The bumblebee is very furry.

Bombus Huntii on some red clover.

A bumble bee on red clover flower which is really pink in color. The bee is yellow with an orange stripe on two segments. It has a fluff sort of furriness. Thorax anterior to distinct black band between wing bases yellow, scutellum, T1 and T4 yellow, T2-3 orange, T5 black. The bee is facing upwards and it's wings are blurred from moving.A bumble bee on red clover flower which is really pink in color. The bee is yellow with an orange stripe on two segments. It has a fluff sort of furriness. Thorax anterior to distinct black band between wing bases yellow, scutellum, T1 and T4 yellow, T2-3 orange, T5 black. Bombus huntii on some white clover.

Bombus huntii, the Hunt's bumblebee on some Dutch clover. The bumble bee is about half the size of the clover flower head. It is a pale yellow and black with a bright orange stripe on two segments of it's rear body. The colored parts are furry. The clover is mostly white with some pink elements before the individual blossoms open.

Bombus huntii was visiting the lilac blossoms.
