A 4,5" X 5.75" book on top of a book press, on a work bench. The book is covered in pink fabric with a drawing of pigs playing and wallowing in mud. The mud is depicted in little droplets. The pigs are round with floppy ears, curly tails and bright pink snouts and appear to be smiling. There is a pink ribbon extending from the binding of the book.

Made a book that's easy to re-bind. It has sewn sections, and a bit of PVA glue (not on the threads). The cover slides over the end sections, so I can slide it out. I'm using it as a fancy hipster PDA.

Today I learned how to bind a small #notebook with a #sewing machine. You only need a thicker paper as a cover and normal copy paper in the same format. I used eight layers of copy paper for these notebooks (don't know how much my sewing machine would manage). Then I sewed a straight line in the middle of the book and folded it afterwards.

Tada! Notebook is ready to gather nice ideas ~(^-^)~

I also designed a new #print for the cover.

I loved the design of this old date book so for my first proper book binding project I harvested the flap and used it for my new book. I knew I shouldn't because that is too ambitious for a first binding project but I did it anyway. In retrospect, using leather for the cover instead of cloth was also inadvisable but fortunately, my leather skills won out. Next time I'll skive the wrapped edge. The old date book is in the upper left corner, minus the closure flap. A new black leather book is in the lower right corner with the back facing upward to show the envelope flap stitched to the back left side.

The new book lay open to the front cover page, showing the black, navy, red, tan and yellow plaid end papers. The pattern is slanted at a 45 degree angle. The closure flap is open on the right side. There is a muted gold pen laying on the right side of the open book.

The new book is pictured closed, sitting at an angle, on top of a small stack of books, on a desk. It looks much like the faux leather date book except there is a channel next to the binding. There is a gold ribbon bookmark peeking from the lower left spine area of the book. There are desk items such as a pen holder, a phone holder and a computer speaker on the upper part of the desk.

#Bookbinding Not sure if anyone will benefit from this tip but no harm posting it.
I couldn't get my wheat paste to come together properly. It was heated enough and the wheat starch had dissolved. No amount of stirring or shaking could move it from being a gelatinous substance but I didn't feel confident it needed more water and I didn't want to add more. I used my handheld milk foamer for a minute and now it's smooth as silk. If you don't have a milk foamer, you can get one for about $3.

Entering the world of bookbinding. I have made hard covered books in the past but I am now learning how to do it with the materials and methods used by professional bookbinders with the aim of producing volumes that will last and be treasured.
Enjoying it so far. I love books.
