The #FolkRidingBikes had a ride along the canal and over to Crosby last night.

Some went for a swim among the Anthony Gormley statues; some got food or a drink from the bus bar and street food containers.

On the way back we stopped off at the Lock and Quay in Bootle for a pint in their beer garden and listened to the primary school teachers celebrating their end-of-year with karaoke of varying levels of success.

I've driven past these buildings many times but it's much easier to spot a #benchmark when you're going a bit slower.

Derby Road, Bootle.

An arrowhead OS benchmark cut into a stone (or possibly stone effect?) gatepost in a low red brick wall. Intricate railings fill the space above the wall.
The cut mark looks like it's been quickly engraved with a power tool. Not a pretty BM.

Had a mice afternoon's #InTheSaddle ride, mostly around old haunts, but added a couple of new links between some of my regular routes, which is nice to have worked out.

That let me fit in a trip to Go Outdoors to check out their (not fantastic, it turns out) bikepacking tent options.

A brick church with cream stone detailing. It's very blocky in design, looking almost Minefraftian.

It has a tower and the front has three vertical windows, each topped with a statue relief set into the brickwork.

The festival was great fun. There was a big fenced-off area of grass, so we let folk have a go at riding the cargo bike.

Lots of interest, and lots of people had a go at riding it; and there were *loads* of kids who wanted to be given rides round the field.

On Saturday I cycled a cargo bike up to Bootle to the #WIMIN festival.

Figured it might be nice to stick the selfie-stick on the back of it and record some video of the trip.

Turns out it's rather boring, and you can't tell I'm on anything different to a normal bike 🤣 Still, it let me test better mounting for the camera. Still rather disappointed that the camera gave up once it had 4GB of video
