#writerscoffeeclub March 20th: Is there one writer whom you admire the most?

If TV writers count it’s probably the duo #BritMarling and #ZalBatmanglij of #TheOA. They made this beautiful thing that no matter how much you turn it over in your hands you discover new beautiful and interesting facets. They’ve told the story in as many different mediums as possible: screen, dance, fine art, music, storytelling, and more without getting cheesy or didactic. The story makes complete sense from multiple conflicting viewpoints. I have never seen such respect for characters in anything. They’re guerrilla filmmakers so they’re really not beholden to the system and willing to do crazy things for the sheer love of storytelling. I still think they planned the cancellation because from a post/metamodern perspective it’s the perfect ending, especially with the intense way they invite the audience into the process. I feel like the whole thing is a challenge for us to write our own endings. <slow clap>
