Geht besonders gut in britischen #Cottages, wie hier in #Buckfastleigh in der Nähe von #Dartmoor. Schade, dass wir im Winter den Außenbereich nicht nutzen konnten. // For that hygge feeling, you need a British holiday #cottage, like this one in Buckfastleigh near Dartmoor. What a shame we were there in the winter and couldn't make use of the beautiful terrace.

A low-angle shot shows a large, grey stone abbey with a prominent central tower under a cloudy sky. The tower and sections of the building feature yellow sandstone detailing around the windows and edges. A green roof covers parts of the abbey. In the foreground, a garden with low hedges, bare vines on a black metal frame, and various plants are visible, slightly out of focus.

Tonight's view looking over #Buckfastleigh #Devon

Landscape night-scape. Lower third is unlit foreground, Grassy field in the centre, slopes away to distant town lights. Dark hay bales on the right, and to the far right tree branches encroach the frame. In the left, a hedgerow hugs the edge of the field and is interrupted by a small grouping of trees. The far distance is gently sloping terrain of Dartmoor. The moon is low, and to the right, overexposed showing as a very bright splotch, it's also behind a small streak of clouds, so there is diffused light emanating from a wider area than just the disk. There is a ghost image from an internal reflection to the top left of the moon, which reveals the crescent. In the centre of the sky is Taurus, the distinctive 'V' shape of the stars in the constellation appears upright, with Jupiter shining brightly above, appearing as a white spot. The Pleiades are to the right of Taurus appearing as a tightly packed grouping. Orion dominates the left hand side of the sky with the sword noticeably glowing. The bright moon is causing some wash out, but overall the sky is quite dark, with many stars apparent. Almost no clouds at all apart form the ones near the moon which are a few subtle white lines.

Tonight's view of Orion and Canis Major over #Buckfastleigh

Monochrome night-scape. Foreground is grass fields, sloping down and away from the viewpoint into a valley. The valley, in the centre contains dazzling and numerous town lights. In the far distance, behind the town, gentle hills. The far left and right of the view have bare tree branches which frame the sky. The night sky is split roughly in half with motion blurred, bright white, moonlit clouds on the right, and many stars on the left. Orion is in the centre with Canis Major on the left. Sirius appears somewhat subdued due to a small patch of cloud. There is a bright lens flare on the cloudy side of the sky from the moon, which is out of frame.

After listening to the incessant rain last night, I almost had 2nd thoughts about pioneering the #SlowWays route from #Buckfastleigh to #Ipplepen today - expecting #Devon #byways & #bridleways flowing like rivers or boot-deep in mud. A bit of both, but surprisingly passable. A flooded meadow proved more tricky. The original route, Bucipp 1 fails due to an access issue (lack of!), but I’d an alternative up my sleeve - Bucipp 2 gets 4⭐️ imo.
#Cake from Broadhempston community shop helped greatly!

An ancient lane (now recorded as a byway open to all traffic) in South Devon. The stone surface has sunk through use so that it is lower than the land either side, the steep hedge banks covered in ferns, the trees leaning over creating a tunnel. Weak blue winter sky beyond. Water running off the fields runs down the lane eroding a gulley in the surface.A roughly triangular-shaped village green in a South Devon village. It is an area of short, well-kept grass with a number of mature trees dotted around. It is surrounded by village houses, the church tower just visible behind.A slice of cake, one bite taken out. The airy sponge is a light caramel colour with more caramel-coloured buttercream in the middle and on top. A swirl of icing where a biscoff biscuit had been placed (the first thing to be eaten of course). The cake is held, by a hand, in front of a flooded meadow. The grass of the meadow is vivid green, with streams of water running through it, reflecting the sky, which is a clear blue.A 14th century inn, The Church House Inn in Torbryan. The light is poor so it’s a little dark but the inn is of whitewashed stone. It has a very tall chimney and the inn sign hangs over the door. A lane runs beside the inn. The sky is blue with white clouds.

Tonight’s view. Jupiter setting over #Buckfastleigh

Monochrome night sky scene. Foreground is a moonlit field with town lights in the middle distance and further hills behind. Cloudy with motion blurred clouds. Jupiter shines brightly low to the horizon, a few other background stars visible in gaps

It's claimed we're at a tipping point and need to help save swimming pools or we'll lose them. The Swimming Teachers’ Association say because of rising energy and living costs Government should reduce VAT to make them more affordable.
