At a moment when companies everywhere are shrinking newsrooms and some are replacing people with AI, The Tyee is doing the opposite.
We’re investing in real journalists — skilled, curious humans who live in the regions they report on and understand the communities they serve. ✍️ #CdnMedia

[Edit: the misgendering is a direct quote from the person’s father, not from Global News themselves. My bad.]
It looks like Global News’ continued misgendering of the #TumblerRidge shooter is an editorial choice at this point.

Make sure to share this far and wide. I'm not sure enough people know how hard these "think tanks", i.e. propaganda tools of neoliberal ideology, are working to undermine Canada.

LOL, so not the National Post, then? From Wikipedia:
"The National Post is...the flagship publication of the American-owned Postmedia Network."
I'd love to see all government advertising in independent media like @thetyee or @thenarwhal or Canada's National Observer.

Stop Blocking Media from Repor...
RE: https://mstdn.ca/@thenarwhal/115893576152027066
I found this article largely disappointing for the Narwhal. It largely carries water for the fossil fuel companies on the issue of CCS and almost completely sidesteps the ‘U’ in CCUS, which is the real goal of the fossil fuel companies in rolling out this technology—they’re not inending to capture the CO2 for any altruistic, planet saving reasons; they want to inject the greenhouse gas into the ground to extract MORE oil from oilfields that have been depleted by conventional extraction means.
If you make it through to the last few paragraphs though, there is a nugget in there about the potential costs taxpayers will bear. According to the article, the Trudeau govt was in for half the cost of CCS plants, but the new MOU puts us on the hook for paying for even more of the projected $13B—likely lowballed—costs.
A trial beginning this week in B.C. Supreme Court could help clarify the rights of Canadians to protest, the ability of the media to cover those events, and the consequences for police when they violate reporters’ constitutional rights.

Because of your great response to our campaign, The Tyee can fully launch its #RealityCheck project in 2026, uniting Tyee reporters with experts in exposing disinformation and educating how to navigate an increasingly toxic digital realm.
What else can we say but thank you. #CdnMedia
