I'm tired, boss! Federal Service is breaking me
I have been a federal employee for 20yrs, after the military. I'm 100% rated and because of very serious injuries, work remotely. I'm a GS-14! I realize that's very, very fortunate compared to the office mandates. Yet, the workload and differential treatment is horrific.I always loved my career with 100% passion. I'm just worn out since January. The constant stress, political attacks, work burden, is wearing me down. I've had 5's every year except this year, which was a 3-Met. No bonus, no praise. I expected more than- be grateful you have a job. Which I guess, in this environment, is true. What is happening at the Senior Executive+ levels? I have never experienced such criticism. Not only of my work, but my teammates. I absolutely feel there is zero potential for growth in my agency.Granted, these are the holidays and it's a bit easier with all the leave and time-off to regain some strength. I absolutely dread going into 2026. I know it's going to be absolutely miserable. We all know the private sector is a disaster at the moment. Nobody is hiring, and salaries are being stagnant. The 1% is an absolute joke, yet still better getting GS-14 pay than fighting the competition. I don't know what to do. I still have awhile until retirement age (10yrs+).
