A pair of teens next to me started talking mockingly about how ridiculous masking is in 2025 and in the heat.

I ignored them, as one does on #Berlin public transport.

As they kept chatting, they went there:

"How long has it been since COVID?" "I don't know, my entire class just recently had it." "Yeah, and I can still feel it in my lungs."

I don't think the ridicule worked out as they had planned to.

Merci 💜

Such beautiful message for #Matariki from @violetblue 's newsletter this week:

"The three main themes that guide the celebrations are: “Remembrance – Honouring those we have lost; Celebration – Giving thanks for the present; Aspiration – Looking ahead with hope.”

I feel like for our purposes here, the remembrance aspect might be a step toward reclaiming the collective grief we’ve been denied by all of our Covid losses, and all the people we’ve lost that have gone unacknowledged, even denied. It’s like we’ve never had a minute for that, to sit and not let the memories of our loved ones be treated like car crash statistics. For celebration, I feel like we are so gaslit and dismissed that we deserve to celebrate how incredible we are to have survived this pandemic, how well we’re still taking care of ourselves by masking and vaccinating despite the odds and hate. If you’re helping in words or actions, you’re a goddamn prevention champion in my book. Aspiration is harder because hope feels like such a dwindling, finite resource. But look at us defying the anti-science hoards by building a better future, even just by putting eyes on this page and staying sharp and aware.

Stay apart, stand together, mask up, and stay strong."

Neuroimmune pathophysiology of long COVID.

#COVIDisnotover #wearamask #cleantheair

“Although COVID-19 was originally considered a respiratory illness, it is now well established that SARS-CoV-2 infection can have far-reaching impacts on nervous system.”

That is indeed a stark conclusion: “Long COVID is a chronic neuroimmune disorder affecting brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves.”
Thanks for sharing - we can all do what we can to protect ourselves & others & reduce spread. Wear a mask, clean the air, avoid large indeer gatherings etc.

There are no colds during the summer. There is no flu during the summer.

You have COVID. Again.

The one with the “summer cold” has gotten worse. Throat symptoms.

Anything going around that is specifically causing throat symptoms? #CovidIsNotOver

This one weird thing can help protect you and your family from:

- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Dementia
- And more!

What is it, you ask?

Avoiding Covid!

Why is it a weird thing, you ask?

Well, I can't help you there. Why is it considered weird to protect ourselves from a deadly and disabling virus, indeed.

Hubs & I took advantage of the currently 'free to AB persons' COVID19 booster. Good to know our local rural pharmacist agrees that there should be NO vaccine cost to the public.

Wenn Ärzt*innen keine Maske tragen, kriege Ich Zweifel an dem was sie sonst so sagen.

Since healthcare workers largely refuse to mask, hospital acquired Covid is still a very serious risk for many of us.

It also carries a 10% mortality rate.

No one should have to choose between care and Covid.

My guide to avoiding Covid in hospital (the tips apply to other public spaces too!)

NSW health issues Covid warning as case numbers rise

NSW Health has urged everyone to protect themselves against Covid as cases rise across the state.

The statement said:

The latest NSW respiratory surveillance report shows 3,475 people in NSW testing positive for Covid in the week ending 14 June, an increase of more than 10% compared with the previous week.

The upswing in Covid has come at the same time as influenza is on the rise and at moderate levels in NSW.

Most people with Covid do not test for the virus, so the latest figures represent a small proportion of all people who have the virus.

Rates of Covid notifications have increased since early May 2025 and concerningly, the rate with the largest increase is in people aged 90 and over.

@augieray Below I've updated 2 of the graphs from the 2nd 2024 Fed paper ("Are workers with disability facing new opportunities or challenges").

Data continues to show population with disability is growing faster than abled.

#Disability #Covid #WorkFromHome #WFH #LongCovid #CovidIsNotOver #PublicHealth #Employment #Unemployment

Line graph of Population age 16+ with a Disability versus With no Disability
Scaled so that each line = 100 at Feb 2020

We see the population with disability dropped sharply (from 100 to 93) in first half of 2020, then reached 100 again by March 2021. Since then, then disabled population has steadily increased to 115 by May 2025.

Whereas population with no disability has increased slowly from 100 at Feb 2020 to 104 at May 2025.Employed with a disability, age 16+. Versus with no disability.

We see a sharp drop in employment rate from 100 at Feb 2020 to 81 at Apr 2020.

Employed with no disability reached 100 again by June 2022, and has grown slowly since then to 103 by May 2025.

In contrast, employed with disability rose sharply to 117 by June 2022, and continues to rise, ending at 136 by May 2025.
