#caddisfly larvae everywhere. They are interesting insects. They live for a year or more in the water. There they are astonishing architects for their cases.

If you look close, you can see a lot of Hydras on the pondweed. They are indeed special creatures. They are not ageing and don't die of age! They regenerate all the time. Very small but also very exceptional 🤩!

Yay! My backyard stream is healthy!
I looked under rocks and found a bunch of benthic macro invertebrate larvae (caddisfly hut and 2 something elses, probably mayfly or stonefly).
Since these only can survive in oxygen-rich, nonpolluted streams with appropriate food sources, my stream must be doing all right

Ein Insekt, ähnlich einer Ameise, aus Metall ist mit Kopf und sechs Beinen zu sehen. Der Unterleib steckt in einem steinigen Köcher. Die einzelnen Steine der Behausung sind etwas abstehend zu erkennen.

This creature looks very much like a grasshopper but is a caddis fly with similar markings, a Mottled Sedge (Glyphotaelius pellucidus).
