Why would #authelia authentication for access via #caddy #reverseproxy fail over #VPN ? It seems to be an #expressvpn issue - they are not routing to my #IP it seems. Anyone else get this?

Booked an #OpenBSD instance @OpenBSDAms in Dec and finally put it to use serving static #Jekyll pages. Setting up #Caddy and Let's Encrypt was refreshingly easy, and the OpenBSD FAQ helped with package management. The only real hurdle was serving content on port 80 and 443. I'm solving that with pf redirecting traffic to Caddy at the moment.

Heads-up for the #Hetzner customers out there, if you are using Hetzner DNS the separate DNS API and management (https://dns.hetzner.com/) will be retired in May 2026. You will have to migrate all of your zones into the cloud management which is mostly seamless unless you are using dns api tokens, these will stop working once you migrate (ask me how I know). This has also implications when you are using the #caddy module that interacts with the Hetzner DNS api (https://github.com/caddy-dns/hetzner), you will need to switch to version 2 to be compliant with the new api.

Unrelated; I was looking at a spike in traffic I saw in #Pihole and noticed at nearly midnight my #Caddy reverse proxy making a few thousand dns queries that appear to be trash domains?

I can find nothing that identifies what happened here, and nothing hitting #Caddy should cause a #DNS lookup.

Nach einem Update versteht sich plötzlich die neue Version von #Docker nicht mehr mit #Traefik und das Ergebnis war, dass nun kein Container mehr funktionierte. Habe nun eine einfachere Lösung und setze nun #Caddy ein. Läuft nun wieder, frage mich aber nur, warum ich vorher die kompliziertere Variante eines Reverse Proxy gewählt hatte. 🤓

I’ll spend today trying to finish the migration from #Hetzner back home. There are a lot of things to accomplish. Also, I think I’ll have another node in my #Proxmox cluster and investigate high availability for this #Mastodon instance and the #caddy container.
