Back from a one-week trip to Malaysia and one of my favourite spottings is this lovely Streaked Spiderhunter (Arachnothera magna) spotted at Cameron Highlands on 1 April 2024, feeding on the flowers in a nursery with its long beak.

Spiderhunters are part of the Sunbird family. This one is larger than the sunbirds I've seen in Singapore.

Vater und Tochter vor Bild an einer Hauswand

Vater und Sohn von hinten auf dem Weg nach Hause bei Nacht.

Es ist so unfassbar schade dass auch hier immer mehr Regenwald dem Gemüse und Blumenanbau weichen muss. Vor 5 Jahren gab es hier nicht halb so viele Blumenfarmen. 3x Täglich gehen 3 bis 4 Lastwägen Richtung Flughafen und von dort nach Japan. Wenn ihr Blumen kauft, lasst euch Auskunft geben woher sie kommen. Es war mir nicht bewusst dass Blumen um die halbe Welt geflogen werden! #malaysia #CameronHighlands

Waren heute Morgen um 4 nochmal im Dschungel. Sind auf einen Berg gestiegen um den Sonnenaufgang im Regenwald zu erleben. Es war wunderschön, aber ich habe überall Schrammen und Kratzer und alles tut weh.

Die Tiere waren noch sehr aktiv: Zibetkatzen, bzw generell kleine Raubkatzen, Schlangen, diverseste Tausendfüßler und Insekten. Schade, dass ich das wohl nie wieder sehen werde 😢 #Malaysia #CameronHighlands

Heute ist Public Holiday. Auf den Straßen ist überall Stau. Mein Freund und ich sind deshalb zu Fuß entlang der Straße und durch den Dschungel ins nächste Teehaus mit Teegarten gelaufen (10km einfach). Leider wurden dort Busweise Gäste ausgeladen. Haben trotzdem #Tee und Aussicht genossen. Die Ruhe im Urwald und der Puls taten auch gut. #CameronHighlands #malaysia

Im Hintergrund sieht man moderne Apartments die fast ausschließlich durch Touristen bewohnt werden. Eigentümer sind meistens reichere Malayen. Auf den Plantagen und Farmen in den #CameronHighlands arbeiten fast ausschließlich Leute aus Banghladesh oder Indonesien, natürlich unter Mindestlohn. Die kümmern sich auch um die Ferienwohnungen. Im Vordergrund sieht man wie das Personal haust, das diese Wohnungen in Schuss hält. #malaysia

Sind in den #CameronHighlands angekommen und trinken #Tee bei einer Teeplantage. Ratet mal was ich hier habe?
