No need to wait for #Caturday for cat photos; today is #NationalTabbyDay! Do you have a tabby? Brag on them in the comments!

The tabby-esque beauty in the 1st image is one of my two furbabies; the orange tabby in the 2nd image was a distinguished gentleman I encountered on a winery tour in rural Alberta.

Happy Monday, it's #SaveTheFrogsDay!
Did you know: in Canada, there are 24 native species of frogs and toads (apparently Canada doesn't discriminate between the two).

Apparently today is #WorldBookDay (why am I always late to these parties?)!

My #photography has been almost entirely self-taught, and most of that has come through reading books on the subject. I was a bookworm before I was a photographer, after all.

#Creatives, what's one book that has had the largest impact on your work? Let me know in the comments! Mine was Understanding Exposure (and others in his series) by Brian Peterson

A stack of books about photography sits in the foreground, with another stack behind. Slightly out-of focus in the background, we see a portion of a woman sitting cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by the books, turning the page of the book she is reading.

Happy #EarthDay! From the tiniest creature to the largest mountain range; water, sky, and land--we are all connected.

We are #nature, and there is a correlation between how well we take care of the earth, and how well we take care of ourselves.

Let's treat the earth with kindness, nourishment, and wonder; and let's protect her, not just for our sake but for that of the next generations to come.

Hello, #YEG! Guess who just got accepted to this year's Whyte Avenue Art Walk!? As "Alberta’s oldest and largest non-juried visual arts festival," this event is kind of a big deal.

Celebrating its 30th year, it will see 400 artists lining the streets at the height of summer; I’ve always come home with a piece of art when I’ve strolled through. Spots for #Photographers in particular are limited, so I’m extra delighted that I made it in!

I couldn't decide between #WildlifeWednesday or #WaterfallWedneday, so I'm going for both 😄

Columbian ground squirrel near Field, BC, on the left; a waterfall I can't recall the name of at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon on the right.

Columbian ground squirrel stops everything in a grassy field, to watch what I'm doing; he sits on his haunches, front legs tucked at his torso.A waterfall cascades down a rock wall, trees beyond in the background, and autumn leaves scattered over the rocks that speckle the creek below the waterfall in the foreground.

Hello! I'm a wildlife photographer in Alberta, Canada. With easy access to Rockies, badlands, rolling foothills, and open skies, nature is my playground. I also travel to other parts of the globe when I can, to capture the beauty of the wider world as well.

DM me about custom prints of any of my images.

Listen, I know it's #Caturday, but can I just take a minute to show you how lovely the sky was last night?

Green aurora borealis ripples in the sky. Underneath, a cluster of trees on an island in the middle of Astotin Lake are silhouetted against the clear and starry sky. The lake is still frozen, creating a snow-covered foreground, with a few grasses peeking through to remind us it's actually spring.

Today in the language of "both/and":

Imperfect and beautiful
Imperfect and vibrant
Imperfect and unique
Imperfect and... (what would you add?)

An orchid with soft yellow petals and a vibrant pink frilly labellum (fading to white at the edges) against a black backdrop. The petal on the right has a very small tear in it--easy to spot, yet does not detract from the beauty of the flower.

I'm a decent green thumb, but #orchids are one of those flowers I'm much better at photographing than growing. Super excited for the Orchid Fair at the #EnjoyCentre in #StAlbert this wknd. This means new work coming soon! For now, here are some shots from previous yrs, two of which were awarded as part of the Orchid Society of Alberta's juried art show in 2023.

After more than a foot of snow in the last 24hours, I'm just gonna leave this here to remind #MotherNature of the direction we're supposed to be going...
