Pro tip on #CanadianTire logins. After some experimentation it turns out I can leave the browser ad-blocker extensions enabled but the pi-hole must be disabled. If I want to keep the pi-hole enabled too I have to log in with a passkey. But I'm still going to use a private window so that the rest of the tracking cookies are discarded when I close the window.
And just WTF are #CanadianTire tracking? I can't remember any other web site I use that requires me to disable the pi-hole to log in. Man, is CT ever embracing enshittification.
I tried to log into my #CanadianTire account but it kept erroring out. The console log was spewing all kinds of errors. Turned off ad blocker extensions, cleared cookies, tried other browsers, I even turned off the pi-hole ad-blocker. Still errored out. Finally, I went thermonuclear and with all ad-blockers off cleared every bit of data for CT. Finally, I could log in. So I told them why they're driving me to shop at Amazon as much as possible. Not that they care.
#CanadianTire told me this morning I should shop on Amazon. Well, indirectly. I bought a heater a few days ago from CT and the flyer that arrived yesterday showed the same heater on sale for 30% off. I spent 30 minutes driving 20km round trip to get the price adjustment and they told me no, that sale price doesn't go into effect until tomorrow even though I was holding the flyer in my hand, and to come back then. What a horrible customer experience.
Just got a fake email claiming Canadian Tire was giving me a free car jack. It's a scam. For one thing, CTC doesn't have that email address; for another CTC is using some lame service that doesn't pass my spam filters, so even the legit stuff doesn't come through.

It turns out, several bolts were missing from the engine splash shield — a plate that protects fragile parts under the car and is often removed during oil changes. Some shields are plastic, but Jones's was metal and he believed it had likely been dragging under the car.
But instead of replacing the bolts, the staff used plastic zip ties to hold the shield in place. Jones says they didn't mention this until he asked — initially saying only that the problem had been fixed.
