On a wet Monday morning, this coyote stood still, taking in the park's muted sounds, breathing in the cool air and gazing down a stretch of empty road. It was a simple and brief moment, but one I really enjoyed as a calm respite from the wider world 😊

A coyote stalks into a tall field of dry grass in the bright morning light.The coyote's eyes are closed for a brief moment. An unfortunately VERY bold coyote on San Francisco bay’s Angel Island. This coyote came out into the picnic area frequently and had a very mild response to hazing. Generally, if you see a coyote in a picnic area like this, best to clap a bit and make noise — show em that humans aren’t fun.

The silver (out)lining of an urban coyote.

A coyote is caught mid-stride as it runs across a street. The lighting is such that the shade beyond the street presents as total darkness and occupies about 60% of the image (top part). In contrast, the street itself is so bright that it appears as a white band cutting diagonally across the image. In the lower left-hand coroner, the speckle of dew covered and sun-bathed grass is evident. In the middle of the picture is the coyote, who's features are not clear owing to the backlighting. However, its shape is outlined by a sunlit fur. The result is a striking contrast, a dark coyote in the middle of a bright street who's bright-outline is only just beginning to cut into the dark shadows that lay beyond--as though the coyote is returning to the darkness but brings with it an unmistakable light.
