I just arrived in Italy at my parents' 🥳
I literally let out a happy scream when I saw that my monitor is connected to an HDMI switch (I couldn't remember if I had taken it to Paris or I had one here). This means I can seamlessly switch between my Mac Mini and my Raspberry Pi 5 - YAY.
I'm currently in the process of backing up my photo and video libraries to my local drive... I'm pretty adamant in having 4 copies of my data... with 2 off-site (one at my parents' and one at my in-laws') 💁♀️
And no I don't trust cloud backups with my media because... the cloud is someone else's computer... and my full photo/video library is 2.2 TB 😅
Anyway, backup now and pizza with the family soon 🍕

P.S.: edit/update: I've been meaning to give a shout-out to my favorite software EVER for peace of mind: #CarbonCopyCloner on Mac. It's so smart, evaluating changes on drives and only copying new things

Overnight my macOS Catalina server filled up its disk thanks to #CarbonCopyCloner creating a copy of the external clone drive's Data partition to the internal drive's Data partition. It's never done that before. I don't know whether some mount point got messed up and confused Catalina or what. Anyway, thanks to ChatGPT's help I located and fixed the problem. It's even making suggestions to configure CCC so it doesn't happen again. So weird, but then, weird problems find me.

Ah, doch - bei den Backup Plänen ist es eine Tortengrafik und rechts ganz oben ein grauer Balken wo der Fortschritt gezeigt wird. Man muss halt nur auch hinschauen 😅
CCC6 legacy Bootable Backup. Mit der Funktion gibt es wohl keinen echten Fortschrittsbalken. Mal schauen ob das Tempo so bleibt … hoffentlich nimmt es noch zu … zum Glück nur eine 1 TB SSD die so knapp über 3/4 voll ist - mein nächstes MBA wird recht sicher 2 TB bekommen 🫣 aber ob das schon 2025 kommt weiß ich nicht - das M1 ist so schön und so verdammt gut 🥰

I own a lot of backup software - #Chronosync which I use to synchronise data between directories and for building updates to my EPUB books, #SuperDuper! Which I use to clone HFS+ #TimeMachine volumes, and now #CarbonCopyCloner, for its easy “add a recovery partition to a bootable cloned volume” function.
Common to all these apps, is fantastic customer support, and longevity of function, typified by #CCC just releasing a update to fix a bug specific to #OCLP using Macs.

Every time I think #CarbonCopyCloner is the most wonderful utility in my arsenal, I find out even more wonderful things it can do.
My main computer is a #MacMini M1 which I love and most of my backup go via #CarbonCopyCloner to the #OWC Mini Stack STX with a total of 10 TB of storage 🥳
I’m setting up groups and tasks in #CarbonCopyCloner I also document the entire process in #Apple notes and I’m going to do a #Freeform diagram of everything later
