The superb glass encased Shandwick Stone. The image shows a diagonal view of a large glass box wrapped around light blue-grey internal metal supports. This largely fills the left-hand two thirds of the frame. Inside it is a large Pictish carved stone with one highly decorated face visible. A fence surrounds the box and in the background the ground slopes away to the sea which is visible in the middle right of the frame. The scene is in sunlight.

The Rodney Stone near Brodie Castle in Moray. One of Scotland’s many Pictish stones, it stands just under two metres high and carries the longest Ogham inscription ever found in Pictland. The Rodney Stone. The image shows the full face of a light grey carved stone in bright sunlight just to the left of the centre of the frame. It carries a deeply incised cross covered in decorations and is rectangular in shape. It is supported by iron stays attached to the corners of the stone. The stone stands in a rough grassy area and there is a narrow road in the background with trees beyond it.

The ancient Caiy Stane, measuring 2.75m high and 1.55m wide and standing beside a residential road in the southern suburbs of Edinburgh.
