Almost 5 years ago I caught one of cervelet's sketch request streams and asked to see a secretary bird taur and a cassowary bird taur playing badminton. They were not pre-existing characters, but I liked how they turned out so much I decided to make them full on characters, and asked for additional sketches of them in subsequent Patreon monthly pieces.
The secretary bird is Aurelia and the cassowary is Rani. They are sisters who are very competitive in athletics, trying to one up each other in various sports, but in a fun way. Aurelia is more of the go getter, fast adapter type, while Rani is one to gradually build up momentum and is hard to knock off track. Both strong but in different ways, which is why their rivalry has been long-standing.
I hesitate to call them "my" characters, given how they came to be, and they aren't exactly adopts or oc's, but they are fun characters to see in new scenes :3

The cassowary, an ostrich-like bird, is perceived as an androgynous figure by the Mianmin people of New Guinea where it is native. The bird is thought to have a penis, yet all cassowaries are considered female. One Mianmin tale actually recounts how a woman with a penis was transformed into a cassowary, and this mythological trope is found in the sacred stories of several other New Guinean peoples.
