#Metroidvania games are always interesting! I’ve played #Metroid and #Castlevania (a few from the series), and now I’m specifically looking for good Sci-Fi #Metroidvania titles. Any recommendations, especially those set in futuristic worlds, space adventures, or tech-heavy environments?

Castlevania: Bloodlines
A solid classicvania entry. Perhaps the most notorious thing about it is how crazy some of the level setpieces are, which is something that's harder to pull of on the genesis than on Castlevania IV's SNES.
The oddball story for this part of the series' history also allows a tad more variety in the level design and aesthetics. Also, levels based off of real landmarks is just neat, specially with how they use them to create memorable sections.
I’m planning on exhibiting three versions of #Castlevania: Symphony of the Night at the Southern Fried Gaming Expo in Atlanta in June: the PS1 original, the Japanese Sega Saturn version, and the PSP version running on PS4.
Due to expo rules I won’t be exhibiting ROM hacks like the English Saturn translation and Rondo of the Night, but they will be handy on my laptop in case as an individual I happen to show them to someone 😉

played some more #metroid fusion tonight. hard to say if I like it better than super metroid.
after playing #castlevania aria of sorrow, though, I'm leaning more toward that end of the metroidvania spectrum. perhaps I still have a streak of the teenage goth I once was inside me.

So apparently I did get better at #Castlevania Dracula X. At least I made it to the 3rd stage on a single life and unlocked the "99 hearts" RetroAchievement. 💪
I did die by falling down some pits in 3 and eventually turned off the game when I got hit and dropped into stage 4'.
I just finished #Castlevania Dracula X (again), a game that I played as a kid.
Contrary to other games I've revisited in the recent past, this came without any muscle memory. This game is haaaaard. And I don't think I ever really got good at it, even though I remember finishing it as a kid and even seeing all the possible endings. 😅
But it's also a fun game and infinite continues make this absolutely playable even if you're not using savestates like crazy.
Fun fact: I played this game as Castlevania - Vampire's Kiss on the SNES first. Years later, I bought Castlevania - Dracula X for the PSP, without knowing that it was a 2.5D remake of the same game. The remake has a slightly different opening, with a prologue where Richter fights Death, while riding a carriage through the woods. But eventually it dawned on me that I was playing the same game I had played almost a decade earlier.
More fun facts: the PSP remake had the original and Castlevania - Symphony of the Night (the whole f-ing game!!!) hidden as easter eggs. This is how I first came to play Symphony of the Night. I don't think I ever beat the remake on PSP, but i played the shit out of SotN. 😁
Now, I'll watch a speedrun to figure out how to really play this game. 😅

New anime: We checked out the new #Devil MayCry animated series. Look and feel are quite close to the #Castlevania series and you can guess I liked that because my avatar is from it.
The first episode looked great and was putting on a lot of information and plot into it. For me, the most unrealistic thing was people in the White House actually listening to experts (but I guess if the Vice president is in on them…).
Dante so far seems like a different type of “hero” than at least Japanese anime usual has and seems interesting enough to carry the series. I think we’ll watch the complete series soon.
Note: If To Be Hero X counts as anime (mostly Chinese production), I guess this one (Korean Studio) should as well.
