Because she loves to drink from the similarly curved faucet in the bathroom next door, I just installed this new cat fountain for Notty cat. So far she has sniffed it, but is mostly indifferent. She is a cat, after all. Hopefully she'll warm up to it. If not, I'll try removing the spigot, which should result in a bubbling spring effect she may find more acceptable. I can always reinstall the pipe later.

A stainless steel cat fountain shaped like an oblong tub, with a shallow, water-filled platform as the lid. A curved steel tube delivers a stream of water to the platform from a tank below. It sits on a mat with a couple of bowls of dry kibble food.

The Litter Robot 4 is amazing (and the 3 is excellent too).

The ExquisiCat Crystal litter is great with it! Really great!

I thought the ExquisiCat Crystal Clumping Litter would be even better.

BIG MISTAKE!

It clumps, but it sticks to the side of the litter box and hardens into a very hard clay. After just a week, I've had to scrape it off the side of the globe, up the side, near the hopper entrance, between *and behind* the grills, and now I'm giving the globe a full clean, and despite hard scraping, it's still leaving remnants and a sludge behind.

And when i say scraping, I mean with metal objects and a lot of force, which is a problem because the rubber lining is fragile, and it's weakened because the mass of litter is wet with cat urine, making it even more fragile!

It's an absolute disaster. DO NOT USE THE CRYSTAL CLUMPING LITTER WITH THIS LITTER BOX!

I'm going back to the regular crystal litter after I can finish cleaning and drying the box.

Who is ready for a package scheduled to arrive today?

I absolutely love the Litter Robot 4, with only two complaints.

First, I don't love that I would need an app to update the firmware. Our litter robot is synced to my wife's phone, but I wish it could just work with eg HomeAssistant.

Secondly, cleaning inside/under the rubber liner is basically impossible without fully disassembling the unit, which means I never do it. I see "stuff" inside there, but with like 20 screws and no outdoor space, I'm not taking it apart.

Other than that, it's been worth every penny, and I hear the litter hopper makes it even better!

Purrfect recovery! 🙂
Maggie is back to her adorable self after 3 days of rest and care. We're grateful to have her happy and healthy again!❤️

Make sure your kitty always has access to fresh water! Monitor their water intake and watch for signs like dry mouth, dark urine, and lethargy.
Maggie recently suffered from dehydration, which caused weakness and dizziness.

Cat : If you clip your (indoor) cat's claws, at the beginning you need to trim a little bit every few days; as the quick recedes gradually, the claws can be trimmed shorter, and they'll be easier to maintain. I noticed that the cats are having an easier time controlling them when they're shorter.

Couldn't find the original source for the diagram.

Diagram of how to trim a cat's claw.

The first part shows a short nail with the blood supply, also called quick or Kwik.

Then longer claw with a long quick running trough, the blood supply gets longer with the nail, a shallow cut that runs trough the blood vessel will cause bleeding and the nail will still be too long. A smaller trim will cause the blood supply to get shorter.

If you clip or file a little bit of the long nail, every few days, the blood supply will continue to recede, showing a cat claw decreasing in size.

As the nail gets shorter so does the blood supply.

Only when the nail is kept short it can be trimmed without bleeding, if the same cut had been made on the long nail it would have caused bleeding. Showing a cut in a now much shorter claw.

A properly trimmed nail, showing a short claw with a shallow cut.
