This US takeover of Venezuela's oil fields will prove very damaging to Canada's economy. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world & the oil is the same type as is located in Alberta. However, Venezuelan oil is easier & less costly to extract & bring to market. Add to this., the fact that the USMCA free trade deal is now up for renegotiation & the US will likely remove many products now protected from tariffs. Together the Cdn economic crunch becomes very obvious.
