Crabtree Falls in North Carolina. Bright white rivulets of water cascade down a wide, rough, dark rock slope, crashing into a pool at the bottom. Trees surrounding the upper portion gleam bright green in the even light.

Graveyard Fields Upper Falls in North Carolina. A thin stream of water cascades down a tall rough surface of rock, some of which is dark but lower bits are lighter with an orange tint.

Hemlock Falls in Georgia's Cloudland Canyon. A broken stream of water drops over the top of a thick rock ledge. To the right of the waterfall the sun highlights an orangish section of the ledge. The left is in shadow and the rock seems white. A pool at the base of the falls empties into a stream near the viewer's position.

Cherokee Falls, also in Georgia's Cloudland Canyon. A larger stream falls over another thick rock ledge into a large pool at the base. The rock face is grey with white sections. Trees in various shades of green surround the top of the falls.
