The #Giants (now 65-64) lost to the #ChiSox-- the team with the worst record in baseball (now 31-97) by a score of 6-2 today. 🤦♂️
Webb pitched 8 innings giving up 2 runs, 5 hits & 1 BB w/6Ks on 93 pitches thrown. He wouldn't have gotten a win for his effort because the game was tied at 2-2 going into the top of the 9th because the Giants could not score an extra run because they when 2-10 with RISP.
Instead, the Giants gave up 4 runs in the top of the 9th (due to poor relief pitching & still couldn't hit their way out of bag in the bottom of the 9th. 🙄
Oh well . . . 🤷♂️
Now they head to Seattle to play a 3 game series vs the #Mariners .

The good news is that the #Giants beat the #ChiSox 1-4 yesterday with a lot less effort than it took 2 days ago.
Robbie Ray found his control & gave up only 1 run on 3 hits w/no walks & 9Ks in 6.2 innings & on 96 pitches thrown. And the rest of the relief staff shut out the ChiSox over the last 2.1 innings, including a 3K "save" by Walker.
On the other hand, while the Giants' hitters did enough to squeak out 4 runs for the win, they were still 2 of 11 RISP which means that coulda/shoulda scored a lot more runs than just 4.
This is not a problem when the Giants score enough runs to win & when the pitchers do enough to prevent the opposing team to score but it is a big problem when the Giants are behind.
Anyway, the Giants "should: win again today to go 3 games over 500 at 66-33 before they have to face the #Mariners & the #Brewers, which are much better teams than the ChiSox in the coming week.

The fact that the #Giants (now 64-63) had so much trouble beating the #ChiSox (now 30-96) speaks to why the #Giants are such a mediocre team.
Yeah, the Giants won but were shut out for 4 innings but did nicely string together 5 hits & a sac fly to score 4 runs in the 5th. Chapman's solo HR in the 6th just looked like icing on the cake until the ChiSox scored 2 in the 8th to make the score 3-5 & Hicks came into "close" the game & got into trouble in the 9th due to an error by Wisely (scored as a hit) & a bungled DP by Estrada on 2nd & a bad throw by Fitz @ SS to 1st (that also wasn't scored an error on him or Wade at 1st ) getting only 1 out & leaving runners on 1st & 2nd but was able to get the final 2 batters to fly out for the save.
So, this made Chapman's solo HR even more important because a single by either of the last 2 batters would have tied the game w/o it.
Hopefully, the Giants can beat the ChiSox again today in a more convincing manner.
