April 26 (1986) marked 39 years since the Chornobyl disaster. The accident resulted from a reckless Moscow-directed experiment that ignored basic safety protocols. After the disaster, Soviet authorities hid the truth and delayed evacuation, exposing millions to radiation.
To this day, the consequences of the #Chornobyl disaster are still deeply felt. The world must learn from the mistakes of the past and prevent lies and negligence from ever bringing our planet to the brink of nuclear catastrophe again.

Meanwhile risk remains as #radioactive substances, including ultra-radioactive graphite, are still confined by the now-damaged structure.
@kravietz Let's also not forget that in 2022 stupid #russian motherfuckers occupied the station and dug trenches in the infamous #RedForest, literally excavating tons of buried #radioactive trash.
And not forget that in order to fulfill the experiment in 1986, the employees ultimately had to disable the majority of automatic safety mechanisms of the station - indeed, what could go wrong?
The #Chornobyl #disaster has not only happened shortly before the dissolution of the #USSR - it quite significantly contributed to it, because a lot of #Soviet citizens had a possibility to see once again an obvious truth so thoroughly hidden by #communist #propaganda - #commies don't give any single minimal fuck about their life, health and well-being.
