New Year Day 2 – honour the elder, temple and more water
The second day of the New Year, Veareak Vanabat, focuses on assisting the less fortunate and contributing gifts and donations.
Families honour their ancestors through temple prayers.

During the New Year period, in addition to specific family and temple rituals from early morning on, there is a continuous celebration with family gatherings, abundant food and drinking, music and dance. This partying goes on in private homes and in public areas for most of the week.

Activities often revolve around boats and water.

Along the rivers, people gathers for shopping, eating and take turns do some short bout trips, or punting, in classical designed boats. And some ordinary river boats.

Happy Sangkranta Festival, the celebration of leaving the old year and welcoming the new one by washing away all that was bad and evil in the old year with copious amounts of water.
