#Citing

„the script takes as input a single #doi or a list of DOIs as input, and for each DOI looks up in #OpenCitations if it cites other article DOIs and is cited by other DOIs. For the cited and #citing DOIs it checks if those are in #Wikidata and (only) if they are in Wikidata, then it create #QuickStatements.“ chem-bla-ics.linkedchemistry.i

Me when writing: "This is kind of covered throughout the book, not convinced I need to cite a specific page"
Me when reading: "It would be so much more helpful if this author had cited a specific page"

I never cease to be amazed at how utterly useless the average #scholar is at #citing a scholarly work correctly, especially works on the web. Reading something now which is basically an orgy of reference rot. URLs containing temporaral session ids, URLs with parameters when a DOI is available, and so it goes.

Basic understanding of the web just doesn't seem to exist -- which is a very depressing indicator of the #digitalliteracy competency of the average scholar. 😬 What can be done?

Important point, too, covered here:

" and ’s are already one another in a shitshow [] / ’s said Google’s had been shut down after it misread a story citing a tweet sourced from a joke. It’s not a good sign for the future of online misinformation."

Dear #researchers (except @ideinfo@twitter who I already asked) I would like to #know your habits on #citing #digital #openacces publications. a) Do you cite ebooks in #epub format? b1) If a pdf edition and an epub edition exists do you read the epub edition? b2) If a pdf edition and an epub edition exists which edition do you cite? c) If a print edition, a pdf edition and an epub edition exist which edition dou you cite? Thanks.

I don't pay attention to this (since I am too busy monitoring my #Google #Scholar profile), but recently learned that three #papers I am on are in the #WebofScience Highly Cited papers list for 2022.

Thank you to me and whoever else is #citing these.
