Yesterday, I mentioned that there was a five-year break between the discontinuation of the Citroën XM in 2000 and the arrival of the C6 in 2005. To a degree, the first-generation C5, introduced in 2000, had to step up to fill the gap at the top of the Citroën range. The C5 looked less interesting than the XM and C6 but it was comfortable and roomy as well as being OK to drive if I remember correctly. I saw this later facelifted car locally in 2024.
I thought I’d stick with the agreeable theme of big Citroëns again today. The XM was the predecessor of yesterday’s C6, although there was a five year hiatus between the XM bowing out in 2000 and the launch of the C6 in 2005. The XM, which was related to the Peugeot 605, sold in much larger numbers than the C6 was later able to achieve. Snapped at the Festival of the Unexceptional in 2024.

Today, we’re sticking with the double chevron badge but this big Citroën C6 doesn’t have much else in common with the 2CVs I posted yesterday and the day before. One of my favourite cars of all time. Rather under-rated. Produced between 2005 and 2012. I saw this Dutch registered example at this year’s Festival of the Unexceptional.
We definitely need to insulate the roof of our house and not use the money to buy an absolutely beautiful 1972 #Citroën DS21. Right?
If only I had 1) space to park it securely out of the weather 2) a reasonably-local shop that knew these cars inside and out 3) a source of parts that does not require shipping from/trips to France 4) $10,000+ lying around doing nothing.
