After #BART opened up direct credit card payments at fare gates, after decades of clumsy #fare payment mgmt features, new generation of mass #transit fare #ClipperCard coming to #BayArea Dec 10th.

Clumsily managed monopolist service provider claims using their new improved Clipper 2.0 card could save service connecting upgraded users money, speed up ridiculous 3 day wait to transfer fare fund$ to card, and ease managing multiple card member accounts...

Today, I picked up my pensioner pass from #ACTransit. One of the benefits of retirement from AC Transit is free bus rides.

To get there, I caught the day’s last #actransit Line 800 to transfer to BART. It was the last AC Transit trip I’ll ever have to pay for (at least for myself). It was on one of the last Van Hool buses still in operation, one of the 60-foot articulated models.

I rode BART to downtown Oakland where the AC Transit office is. I picked up my pass. I also picked up a youth Clipper card for my daughter, who just became old enough to have to pay for transit.

Holy shit. With the state of public transit payments, it's a freaking wonder anyone rides. I am hanging so much trouble with the fucking Clipper app today, and don't really want to wait for the 67 people ahead of me in the phone queue. #ClipperCard

What happened to paying Bay Area #bridge #tolls with #Clippercard?? Jeez, that would have been convenient…

Bay Area transit officials slam nearly 700-day delay of Clipper 2.0 rollout. Riders deserve better. New launch expected late August. #BayAreaTransit #ClipperCard #PublicTransit

Turns out that if you get the error message I did and follow the instructions to call they will tell you to clear your browser cache and if that doesn’t work you need to fill out the form to manually have clipper change your credit card info and email it. Customer service can’t actually help on the phone. If the error message said that instead that would have been awesome ! #ClipperCard sfba.social/@AlexisKrieg/11385

This is the part I cry in #ClipperCard for the week

Clipper card top up receipt. Saying I spent 79 dollars to get to work next pay period

Tried to do something with my clipper account earlier today -but the website has "invisible reCAPTCHA and so I can't actually do anything because it thinks I'm a robot - not even submit customer feedback in the contact us menu. And if you call customer support - the only solution - the message is to use the website or wait until business hours. Meanwhile, the email I received this morning demanded action by 6 pm today.

For all you #SFBA folks, has anyone had trouble transferring their virtual clipper cards to a new phone?

Luckily I still have one physical one for guests because both of my virtual ones are not working on new phone #clippercard #ACtransit #SFmuni

For people who use a #clippercard for #bart or #ACtransit or whatever...

Am I reading the fine print right that once I paid online to "add value" onto the card, the reason I can't see if it made it onto the card is because the funds aren't actually added until I tag in?

That seems... ridiculous. So I can't check to see if it worked till I get there and am in a hurry?

Was just trying to help someone with Clipper on #Caltrain.

She wanted to buy a 3-day pass and loaded onto her #ClipperCard.

I couldn't figure it out either.

It would be so much easier to have a ticketing app (and keep paper tickets for people without smartphones).

#ClipperCard steals money on #BART HVD passes when it's time to get senior card. I was told I should use less than my balance my next trip, so Clipper will steal less. Perhaps exact value trip would bring HVD to $0.

Earlier Clipper Rep said HVD would be used, then remainder from cash purse. That did not happen.

I won't lose a lot of money, but some company is getting a lot of small remainders.

Where can I go for $3.10?

Who keeps the money, Clipper or BART?

Visiting Chicago this weekend, and I am reminded of what a well-done #PublicTransit access can look like.

Years ago I was impressed that CTA’s #Ventra cards were just prepaid debit cards you could use anywhere, which meant they could help many unbanked people with day to day activities.

And now, if you have any contactless payment card (digital tap wallets or just a tap-capable physical card) you can use that without using a special card or app or ticket.

Proprietary transit payment systems need to die. *cough* #ClipperCard *cough*

Transferring your #ClipperCard to Google or Apple wallets is convenient but poorly implemented. If your phone is lost or broken, there's no direct transfer option. Instead, you have to pay a $3 "recovery fee" and receive a new plastic card by mail with the remaining balance.
