Am I the only one that thinks about this? And often.

About how conveniently timed #Covid reporting/tracking was taken away and the vaccine was released, all right after the numbers hit the memorable number of 1M and magically stopped.

No? Just me?

Appears that I go through #COVID in a fixed pattern.

A couple of days feel like allergies. Groggy.
Sudden fever, then a day of up and down.
Then very runny nose and sneezing all day.
Then loss of smell. Last time it lasted a few days.

Washington State's Department of Health updated their #covid #covid19 vaccine information page for health care providers. This is good messaging. 👍

EDIT: D'oh, forgot the URL: doh.wa.gov/public-health-provi

COVID-19 Vaccine Information for Health Care Providers

Updated June 17, 2025 - The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) continues to recommend that everyone 6 months and older, including pregnant people, receive the current COVID-19 vaccine to protect against severe illness.

DOH is continuing to monitor federal updates on COVID-19 vaccine recommendations and assess how changes may impact the health and safety of Washington residents. At this time, we are not making any changes to our programs or recommendations and will continue to monitor federal guidance as it evolves.

Our priority remains ensuring equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. The COVID-19 virus continues to pose serious health risks in Washington state, including hospitalizations, long COVID, and preventable deaths. These risks are most prominent in pregnant people, young children, older adults, people with chronic conditions, and those who remain unvaccinated.

COVID-19 vaccines remain one of our most effective tools for preventing severe illness. We encourage all eligible Washingtonians to stay up to date on their vaccinations to protect themselves, their loved ones, and the broader community.

Hello, it’s the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater toots. A quick reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.

Let's start with the West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant. The 7-Day running average of the Sars-CoV-2 levels continues to bounce around the same range it has been. Last data is from 6/10.

WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistica. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally). The Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at @WADeptHealth

A screencap of the Washington State Department of Health's Covid wastewater data for the West Point Wastewater Treatment Plant. The trend line of the graph is described in the toot text.

@augieray Below I've updated 2 of the graphs from the 2nd 2024 Fed paper ("Are workers with disability facing new opportunities or challenges").

Data continues to show population with disability is growing faster than abled.

Line graph of Population age 16+ with a Disability versus With no Disability
Scaled so that each line = 100 at Feb 2020

We see the population with disability dropped sharply (from 100 to 93) in first half of 2020, then reached 100 again by March 2021. Since then, then disabled population has steadily increased to 115 by May 2025.

Whereas population with no disability has increased slowly from 100 at Feb 2020 to 104 at May 2025.Employed with a disability, age 16+. Versus with no disability.

We see a sharp drop in employment rate from 100 at Feb 2020 to 81 at Apr 2020.

Employed with no disability reached 100 again by June 2022, and has grown slowly since then to 103 by May 2025.

In contrast, employed with disability rose sharply to 117 by June 2022, and continues to rise, ending at 136 by May 2025.

@trendless Huh. The CIDRAP summary is maybe less clear than it could be.

30% CMV reactivation rate is huge, and that's across both C19+ and C19- ICU patients.

30.6% of ICU patients experienced CMV reactivation, with 10% exhibiting clinically-significant reactivation. COVID-19 ICU patients had significantly higher rates of any CMV reactivation (41% vs. 20.7%, p = 0.006), high-level DNAemia (15.3% vs. 1.2%, p = 0.001), and CMV disease (8.9% vs. 1.2%, p = 0.029) compared to concomitant non-COVID-19 patients.

So it looks like the real blockbuster data here is not CMV reactivation itself, but the ~10% clinically significant CMV reactivation in C19-positive ICU patients compared to ~1% in those without C19.
