Eggbug, but what if they wanted to sell you pastries.
Some #eggbug graffiti I witnessed under the Elliot Bridge in Boston last weekend. #Cohost #EggbugForver
love that people will never forget that website or its silly mascot
so who’s working on the instance(s) with the #cohost post renderer eh?

what went wrong with cohost that it was so expensive to host?
No, really? What the fuck kinda stack was cohost that it was eating through money? The entire app.wafrn.net stack is like under 25 bucks (€) last I checked
Saw this on BlueSky, and unironically, yeah? Back when #cohost was still a thing, there was a user who ran a BBS for six or eight months or something. They were in their 20s, way too young to have ever called a board in the 90s. And, it was great? The message area was thriving with just a few dozen users. It can be done! We've had between two decades and a quarter century of posting publicly. Maybe it's time to get back to things that are smaller, weird, more joyous.
credit to @ztul.bsky.social for the original "Great City of Canals" post on #cohost. i just re-wrote it with Breckenridge Jazz Hands references, and put it in one of our templates.

re-sharing my thread of great cohost posts on the anniversary of its demise
Seriously you should see this on a wafrn.

I am not exagerating when I compare wafrn to cohost
My first release of Cohfrn, the Cohost theme for Wafrn, is out!
This is a first release, with much of the CSS code being modified from the starter template. As such, the CSS is a little redundant and ugly in places, I will try to clean it up more as time goes on.
If folks want to test this out, give feedback, submit patches, or package this up for Wafrn instances, go right ahead!
A reminder, if you still have your cohost export file it can be imported in wafrn. Wich connects with both fedi and bluesky (if that’s your jam)
it would actually be so cool to update my website now that i have more programming experience
i made my neocities site when #Cohost announced its shutdown, and i didn't know JACK SHIT at the time
i still don't in the grand scheme of things, but i know more now than i did then! it'd be cool to see the before/after with a year of practice
i'll post about it if i follow through
So, it's nowhere near done, there's some atrociously bad issues for me to iron out with my crappy CSS, but I'm making a Cohost theme for Wafrn. Maybe once it's good enough, we can officially add it to the instance?
Anyway, if you want to check out what it looks like, head over to my profile. Once it's cleaned up enough, I'll formalize it into a proper userstyle and throw it towards whoever adds the themes.
