Most of what we call “politics” is just playground dynamics at scale: bullies, stooges, and the vast middle who go quiet to stay safe.

But bullies only win when the rest of us don’t show up.

#BlackMastodon and #blackfriday I am hoping to connect to cooperatively and/or collectively run BIPOC instances. A democratically owned and governed fediverse has to center DIEJ and that cannot be done without BIPOC people. This is true for all excluded and exploited people.

@neil Anyone who has not yet read Jessica Gordon Nembhard's book Collective Courage should do so -- it tellls the story of economic cooperation among African Americans over the course of US history. Those efforts continue. The most prominent example now is Cooperation Jackson, in Mississippi. There is also a history of coop organizing in immigrant communities. So maybe the movement is less white that it appears?
