What a brilliant turnout at the very first Westdene & Withdean Winter Warmer last night. Around 60–70 people braved the weather to sing festive songs, enjoy mince pies and mulled wine, and—most importantly—meet, laugh and connect with neighbours.

The street next to me does a Christmas drive each year, they have a grotto for parents to bring their kids, get a free photo and present, 2 local charities get supported from donations made by the people who come along,.
Great neighbours coming together to celebrate the holidays and do something nice to help others who are less fortunate.

This wonderful little restaurant business has a community minded program in place to help people in need of food or a warm drink. It's their community meals program. As they put it:
'...we’re thinking a lot about how powerful it is when neighbours take care of each other.
Our Community Meals Program lets you pay it forward. When you buy a meal, soup and toast, or a coffee for someone in need, you help make sure that anyone who walks through our doors can get something nourishing, completely free, no questions asked."
When you buy a coffee ($2), a soup and toast ($7), or a full meal of their choosing, ($14) for a stranger, you get it at a discount and it's given out completely free.
As they say: "We know that this program doesn’t do anything to solve the larger issues around food insecurity in our city. But it is one small, meaningful way we can brighten someone’s day, offer dignity, and make sure a neighbour gets something warm and nourishing when they’re struggling."
