And, finally.

The last photo from the #CommunityWoodland group work yesterday. Apart from the main woodland we also own this path and the rough/waste* ground on the right. The path got cleared yesterday.

* no ground is "waste" but this has been used as a dumping ground / fly tipping area for decades. There's numerous layers of garden waste and other wood and building waste.

On the left hand side is a very big hedge - this belongs to the house on the left. There is a sunlit path which got cleared yesterday. On the right is the rough ground referred to in the toot.

Busy day, today

Tree planting - here it was 4 Hazel trees. Hopefully, in time, they will produce nuts for the local red squirrels. The tree protectors are made from fully biodegradable material.

Then, a litter pick in the woodland. Much less litter than the last time.

A great time was had.

Bee on Vetch

I couldn’t believe it! I was photographing this #vetch and along came a #bee and photobombed the image. How lucky am I!

Soil Erosion

This is a photo of a beech tree growing out of the ground. However, we see that there has been soil erosion underneath the tree and the roots that are growing down into the ground have been exposed for a section.

Yellow Archangel

This is the #Yellow #Archangel plant. It is a very new introduction to the UK and it is estimated that it came into the country in the late 1960s. It has now made its way into #woodlands.

In the foreground is a spike of a Yellow Archangel plant. On the stalk are green leaves with silver patches. There are also yellow flowers which look as if they consist of a hood and the lower petal is hanging down and is covered in orangey stripes.

Wood Sorrel

With its leaves which are reminiscent of clover this small #Wood #Sorrel #flower is absolutely stunning.

A small white woodland flower which has lilac/purple veins running the length of each of the petals.

Welcome To The Woodlands

While I’ve looked at these plants individually, I think they make a really lovely welcoming entrance to the #woodland. On the left hand side of the path are #blue, #pink and #white #bluebells, while on the right hand side are beautiful white #greater #stitchwort.

A woodland path is in the middle of this scene. One the left hand side is a large patch of pink, blue and white bluebells while on the right hand side are beautiful white greater stitchwort. All these plants are nestled in natural undergrowth.

Bee on Whin

There are several whin (Ulex europaeus) bushes in the woodland. I was particularly pleased when I was photographing this bush as a bee photobombed the photo and landed on one of the flowers.

Multicoloured Bluebells

This is a patch of #blue #pink and #white #bluebells at one of the entrances to the #woodland. They make a very bright and #cheerful welcome to the woodland.

This is a patch of bluebells at one of the entrances to the woodland. They make a very bright and cheerful welcome to the woodland. I like the mix of blue, pink and white among the undergrowth. These have larger flowers that the bluebells in the Memory Tree area.

Tuberous Comfrey

There’s a large patch of #tuberous #comfrey in the #woodland. This is a very interesting plant as it was originally recorded as being native to #Scotland where it is thought to have originated as a #medicinal #plant.

This plant has large green leaves and much smaller tubular flowers. The flowers are a creamy colour. There is a bumble bee feeding from one of the plants.

Greater Stitchwort

I think these are beautiful little native wildflowers which appear every year in the woodland. Every time I see them I feel that spring really has arrived.

A beautiful small plant in the sunshine. There are 5 white petals each of which have a deep notch in the top of each petal – so at a quick glance it looks as if there are 10 petals. In the middle of each plant we see golden dots of yellow pollen on its stamens.

Pink Purslane

I think this is a beautiful pink flower. I hadn't come across #Pink #Purslane before as its not native to this area.

In a shaded part of the woodland is this little plant. The leaves have been photographed out of focus but you can still see their overall shape. The focus is on 3 bright pink flowers that have darker veins of colour running the full length of each petal. They are pink purslane.

Orange Lichen

What a vibrant shade of orange! This is a #downy #birch which is covered in several different types of #lichen. I suspect the #orange is a lichen too.

What a seed-head! This is a closeup image of a dandelion seed-head. It is fluffy white but the seeds are visible in the centre. However, one of the seeds has already come detached.

Chickweed Wintergreen

There’s a section in the woodland which is full of native species. I found these beautiful little #Chickweed #Wintergreen #flowers around the edges of the paths in that area.
